Ibadan Food Security Network · Pilot

Nobody’s name on the door.

Lawal Group convened this network and funds it. Its founding documents say that gives it no ownership.

01 · The need

93 in 100.

households with a child under five in Ibadan North’s urban slums could not reliably feed that child.

Household survey, 2023 · n = 1,027

02 · The list

The list freezes.

Registration closes before anyone cooks. After that, the manifest can’t be edited. Not by a supervisor. Not by a donor.

03 · The shelf

Your meal is already yours.

Each meal waits on a shelf against a ticket number. Nobody has to run, arrive early, or lose it to someone stronger.

04 · The red paddle

Anyone can stop the day.

Five stop conditions. If any one is met, the site supervisor lifts the paddle. Not the director. Not the donor.

That is the design, not the failure.

05 · Four stamps

No hand holds two stamps.

  • Order
  • Receive
  • Release
  • Pay

Two approvers on the bank account. Five records reconciled after every cycle.

06 · The table

Many operators. One table.

Local food banks keep their own names, boards and staff. Not absorbed. Not rebranded.

07 · The founding documents

“Funding or introductions do not create an automatic ownership interest, permanent veto, award, or right to appoint recipients.”

No founder capture.

08 · The start

Fifty. Then a hundred.

The first distribution serves 50 people. It grows to 100 only once all four checks hold.
